Nissan Micra to price between 4-5 Lakhs
Nissan Micra, a much speculated hatchback from Nissan motor company, the Japanese auto giant is expected to be launched in July'2010 with a price tag of 4 to 5 lakhs. The "All-new Global Compact Car", is how Nissan is referring to the car and is aiming to sell around 80,000 units in the financial year ending March 2010. Nissan Micra (as it would be named in India and UK) would be a global hatchback available across 150 countries from Nissan specially catering to the emerging markets. It is speculated by various reports that the car would be launched in 10 different colors so that it caters to all segments of customer needs.
The car would be built completely in India at the Chennai facility of Nissan. Nissan Micra would be equipped with a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder Petrol engine and would produce 108Nm of torque and 80 units of horsepower. In order to cater to the growing need of city oriented automobiles, Nissan Micra would have a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), that helps reduce the strain in city driving.
With the launch date of Nissan's first "Made in India" car approaching, Kiminobu Tokuyama, managing director, Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL)exclaimed the company's excitement on the achievement that was much awaited since long. The plant at Chennai is expected to produce around 200,000 units of Nissan models by the year 2012 and 400,000 units by 2015. Senior operating officer from Nissan quoted that the major portion of sales would come from exports.
To achieve these sales target and to increase its hold over the market, Nissan is planning to increase the dealership network from 8 to 82. Nissan, Japan's third largest car company is having big plans to hold a good position in the Indian automotive market with an aim of selling 100,000 vehicles in India by the year 2013. The car major has plans to launch 9 models for this purpose in India.
